Jay Arnold is a 22-year-old session drummer, composer, and educator based in the Wye Valley, South West England.

Having taken to the drums from an early age, Jay has since developed a distinctive and virtuosic playing style that underpins a growing reputation in the South-West music scene.

During their time at Bath Spa University, Jay was quickly recognised for their technical ability and musical sensitivity, leading to a surge in session work both in the studio and on stage. Over the past four years, they have performed extensively across the country, appearing on Line-ups alongside Strawberry Lace, Continents, and The Anchor.

Most recently, Jay has become a core member of Monochrome, an emerging Ambient Metalcore band from the South West. Their work with the group has marked a significant career milestone, including a performance at Bloodstock Festival 2025, where Monochrome was featured alongside renowned acts such as Gojira, Trivium, and Machine Head. The band also appeared at Life Is Music Festival and Hammer Down Festival in Brighton, alongside artists including Tygers of Pan Tang, Dream State, and underdog legends Love Is Noise.

As the 2025 festival season concludes, Jay remains active in the studio. Recent projects include recording Monochrome’s forthcoming second EP—recorded by Lucas Fletcher (Blanket) at Shell City Studios—set for release in early 2026. Jay also features on the upcoming single "Frida" by acclaimed indie pop artist Gabrielle Aplin, due for release later this year.

In addition to their live and studio work, Jay was invited to open a Drum Masterclass hosted by Ashley Green (Holding Absence) and Tom Connolly (Dream State) on June 1st, 2024—an event that celebrated innovation modern drumming, and further cemented Jay's position as a respected voice among the next generation of players.
